Why study performance on a farm?Flourish recognizes growth as essential to life, and therefore to art. A living work of art is dynamic because it continues to grow. A farmer nutures life in the field in the same way a performing artist nurtures life in the performing space. Identifying a creative idea or impulse as a seed, Flourish programs are designed to foster a culture and climate in which that seed will grow and flourish.
Flourish takes place at DreamAcres, a 60-acre organic farmstead tucked into the bluffs of Southeastern Minnesota. DreamAcres operates a subscription vegetable business (CSA) and hosts workshops in rural skills and alternative technologies along with its arts programming. The farm has minimal solar electric capacity and no modern plumbing, so participants come prepared to experience "simple" living.
